Upgrading of IPB Faculty of Forestry Student Executive Board for the 2012-2013 period

Gunung Walat, Sukabumi – Upgrading of IPB Faculty of Forestry Student Executive Board for the 2012-2013 period took place on 16-17 February 2013 in Gunung Walat University Forest (GWUF).

This upgrading is the first agenda of the IPB Faculty of Forestry Student Executive Board (BEM Fahutan) which was newly formed for the 2012-2013 period. This upgrading was attended by 58 BEM Fahutan members.

The purpose of upgrading was to introduce increase the organizational capacity of BEM Fahutan members.

This upgrading activity was also fully supported by the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry. Dr. Iwan Hilwan was representative of the Dean who guided students during the agenda in GWUF. He was also the Chairperson of Faculty of Forestry Student Commission.

“We are a student board under Faculty of Forestry, so we should use the available facilities. This place is very conducive and attractive as an introduction to delivering that we have the GWUF. This moment can also be used as the internalization of forestry to BEM members” said Dicky Saifurrohman, Chairperson of the 2012-2013 BEM Fahutan.

“During the activity, we held leadership training to reaffirm the spirit of organization and spirit of leadership to BEM Fahutan members. We also held outbound and simple games that educate friends to be closer to nature, to be fresher, and to know each other” he added.

“We share the management of an event to reaffirm the knowledge because there are many members that are still beginners in the executive institution. We also held an art performance to solidify and strengthen the friendships” he explained.

On this occasion, there were also GWUF management represented by Dizy Rizal (Manager) and Adly Rahandi Lubis (Assistant Manager) who presented about the success story of GWUF management from the beginning till this time when it was still a vacant land and converted by the surrounding community with IPB students since 1951 to make the forest full of benefits until this time. It was hoped that this success story will be an inspiration for IPB Faculty of Forestry students to continue managing the forest wisely so as to achieve good results and benefits.

“It is amazing, Gunung Walat University Forest is a pilot forest but impressing me with the success of the management that is very well and at the same time is very remarkable. We are very comfortable holding activities here and I am impressed with the service and assistance from the GWUF management” added Dicky.
