Gunung Walat, Sukabumi – Summer Course of Japanese and Taiwanese Students on 31 August – 3 September 2015 in Gunung Walat University Forest, Sukabumi.

IPB Faculty of Forestry in collaboration with Tunghai University of Taiwan, National Taiwan University, Ryudai University of Japan, and Prince of Songkla University of Thailand had held a Summer Course IPB 2015 in the Gunung Walat University Forest. This activity took place from 31 August to 3 September 2015 which was attended by 34 participants.

“We came here to conduct training and study the existing biodiversity in Indonesia from various species. At some of the activities here we get the material every night and we go out of the room to make observations” said a representative from Tunghai University named Yi Hsuan Lin when met at the location of the activity.

According to her while in Gunung Walat, diversity of flora and fauna are still quite preserved so it gives a distinct impression while in the middle of the forest.

“I think this is a good experience to see various birds, frogs, reptiles, and of course the condition of the forest with various types of trees. I think it’s good to learn the experience in here, especially for all students and especially for our campus” she said.

The same thing was addressed by Prof. Chung Neng Wang as a representative from National Taiwan University after seeing the condition of the Gunung Walat forest along with the biodiversity contained in it.

“I think this place is very beautiful as I know so far it has been established since 30 years ago. This place I think has increased people’s desire to come. So the community and all visitors can learn how we can restore the forest without damaging it and nature will automatically rebuild it” he concluded.
