Gunung Walat, Sukabumi – IPB Summer Course 2013: An Introduction to tropical Biodiversity from the Forest to the Sea with participants from Tokyo University of Agriculture Japan was held on 27 – August 29, 2013 in Gunung Walat University Forest, Sukabumi.

This summer course activity carried the theme “An Introduction to tropical Biodiversity from the Forest to the Sea” which was expected to provide knowledge about the functions of forests and oceans as a whole, especially in Indonesia.

“The activity introduces the nature of Indonesia in common and in this case is biodiversity and exchange of experiences” said the Chairwoman of the Summer Course Committee Dr. Yenny A Mulyani.

According to her, during in the Gunung Walat University Forest, the participants did not only get information about biodiversity but also other things that distinguish Gunung Walat from other field sites.

“Because in forestry it is not always about biodiversity, but we also have agroforestry material and of course promote Gunung Walat” she said.

She hoped that this activity could result in a collaboration, both about agroforestry and information exchange of flora and fauna diversity in both countries.

“Hopefully, we all learn something about biodiversity, create a long-term collaboration between two institutions, and everyone can enjoy this activity” she concluded.
