“The material is related to REDD+ concept and measuring carbon stock through ground-survey method, JIS method, and destructive sampling method, In addition, there is also training on participatory rural appraisal as one of the materials in the framework of this REDD+, including the practice of interviewing the community, which is in this case, the practice is carried out in the village of Hegarmanah which is very close to Gunung Walat University Forest” said the Chairwoman of the REDD+ Training Committee, Dr. Leti Sundawati.

She, who is also a lecturer at the Faculty of Forestry of IPB, added that the reason for the training at Gunung Walat was that besides the completeness of supporting facilities, such as overnight facilities and consumption, there was also more value possessed by Gunung Walat so it is suitable for REDD+ training.

“Gunung Walat has complete facilities as a training place. Gunung Walat itself has already carried out some kind of activities related to REDD+, such as voluntary carbon trading. Besides, it is also located close to the community, so the training place is ideal” she explained.
