Gunung Walat, Sukabumi – Practical analysis of vegetation of IPB Environmental Management Engineering Diploma Program students was held on December 6-7, 2014 in Gunung Walat University Forest, Sukabumi.

This practice was a part of Ecology Courses of IPB Environmental Management Engineering Vocational Program that held a practice of vegetation analysis in GWUF. There were 127 students who participated in this activity.

“This is the third year I bring my students here. This is the 51st batch student or the first year student who just enter their first semester. In Bogor, there is only Bogor Botanical Gardens and it is too homogeneous. It is different from here which is, even though the not primary forest, ale to practice what student has received from the theory” said Hadisti, S.Si as the supervisor of this activity who is also taking her postgraduate studies.

According to her, the reason for practising this activity in Gunung Walat was the short distance from Bogor and the previous experiences in Gunung Walat.

“Students can easily arrange the schedule and coordination with IPB Faculty of Forestry so that they have less difficulty in arranging the program” she said.

Hadisti added that the infrastructure owned by Gunung Walat was adequate and supportive to create conducive practices.

“Facilities for staying are comfortable and other facilities, such as the hall, are adequate. There is a guideline so it is more comfortable to ask” he concluded.
