Intimacy Program of IPH (Management of Forestry Science) Postgraduate Students

Gunung Walat, Sukabumi – Intimacy Program of IPH (Management of Forestry Science) Postgraduate Students in GWUF, Sukabumi, West Java, on Saturday-Sunday (October 02-03, 2010).

This activity was held in Gunung Walat University Forest (GWUF) because it is considered as the most suitable, cool, comfortable and complete facility. In addition, GWUF had been widely known by undergraduate students of IPB so it is also introduced to postgraduate students from outside IPB as one of the educational forests that IPB has.

The theme in this activity was to build internal intimacy between students and lecturers and at the same time as an event to form a community of IPH students. This intimacy program was attended by 50 master and doctoral students batch 2007-2010 and 10 lecturers.

The events began with welcoming the participants by Kanjeng Sunan Gunung Walat, Ir. Budi Prihanto M.Si in Joglo Room at around 8 p.m. Participants were introduced to the GWUF environment along with general information about forestry. After the welcoming ceremony, the internal program of student continued. At the next day, an outbound event was held at the camping ground located not far from the GWUF basecamp.

The main program, sharing session between students and lecturers, was held after outbound. In this session, there were many concerns that were constrained by students to lecturers. Lecturers provided wise views to overcome these problems. The lecturers who became the interviewees were the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry Dr. Hendrayanto, Prof. Hariadi Kartodihardjo, and Dr. Sudarsono Sudomo, MS.

The last event was a discussion about the establishment of a student association for IPH student. This program was the first program held by the IPH Study Program and expected to be held annually.

According to the Head of Event Committee, Ir. Eno Suwarno M.Si, who is also a doctoral candidate, all the agendas of this program aimed to build intimacy among batches of the student to gather lots of ideas in making programs to implement their concern for the problems of students independently and forestry problems nationally.
