Environment Alignment Workshop of PT. Holcim Indonesia

Gunung Walat, Sukabumi – Environment Alignment Workshop of PT. Holcim Indonesia took place on 12-13 April 2012 in the Gunung Walat University Forest (GWUF), Sukabumi.

This workshop was attended by 35 staff representing the business units of PT. Holcim Indonesia. Business units include cement business units, concrete business units, milling business units, and packing business units that are located all over Indonesia.

A workshop like this is a routine activity every year.

“The purpose of this workshop is for a gathering and sharing sessions between business units PT. Holcim Indonesia for initiatives has been taken and planned in 2012. And achievements in 2011 will take each unit to learn which one is more advanced and which one is not”, said Oepoyo Prakoso, Corporate Environment & Compliance Manager of PT Holcim Indonesia.

The workshop included internal workshops, the introduction of GWUF conditions from management, joint discussions between PT. Holcim Indonesia and the management of GWUF, exploring natural karst caves, introducing agathis and pine tapping, and reviewing the nursery.

In this discussion, it is talked about the way to make the environmental sector better for the future. Dr. Hendrayanto, who is also a lecturer at the Faculty of Forestry of IPB, is the speaker for this discussion.

In this opportunity, Dr. Nandi Kosmaryandi (Business Development Director), also presented the sustainable management of GWUF. To be known that PT. Holcim Indonesia created a MoU with the Faculty of Forestry IPB in the formation of the Holcim Educational Forest (HEF) located in the Cibadak, Kabupaten Sukabumi, which is expected later the HEF could be like GWUF that can transform from vacant land to more useful forest.
