Comparative Study of Forestry Department Student of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung (UNILA)

Gunung Walat, Sukabumi – Comparative Study of Forestry Department Student of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung (UNILA) was held on 19-21 December 2013 in Gunung Walat University Forest, Sukabumi.

There were 21 students from the Department of Forestry participated. According to the Chairwoman of the Comparative Study Committee, Siti Fatimah, it was explained that the initial goal was to find out the management policy process at Gunung Walat.

“Here we want to know the initial process of Gunung Walat, what kind of forest at the beginning and how to plant it, then how the workers get the results and manage it” said the student of the 2012 batch when met at Gunung Walat.

Siti Fatimah said that there were important points owned by Gunung Walat related to the no-cutting-trees system in managing forest product resources.

“In here, they really do not do logging and only take the benefit from non-timber products. We should be able to apply it in Lampung so that the economy of the community will increase and the forests will also be maintained” he said.

Siti Fatimah added before they went to Gunung Walat, the committee conducting a study tour to the Faculty of Forestry of IPB to find out the education system and its supporting facilities.

“It was a kind of discussion with lecturers from the Faculty of Forestry about the minor-major curriculum and facilities at Fahutan” he concluded.
