Fieldtrip of The International Center for Research in Agroforestry (ICRAF) Bogor

Gunung Walat, Sukabumi – Fieldtrip of The International Center for Research in Agroforestry (ICRAF) Bogor had been held on 16 September 2015 in Gunung Walat University Forest.

Researchers around the world who are members of The International Center for Research in Agroforestry (ICRAF) had held a field trip to study the development of agroforestry, in terms of its problems and solutions for the future.

“Fortunately, the science week is held in Indonesia and as one of the events of the week, we conduct some field visits to several places that we consider to be examples of agroforestry practices in Indonesia. Today we invite one of the groups from ICRAF researchers to Gunung Walat where we want to show that Gunung Walat has succeeded in making the ecosystem restoration works” said ICRAF committee member, Andre Ekadinata, when met at the location.

Andre Ekadinata said that while at Gunung Walat, not only observing at the results of agroforestry, but the researchers were also invited to see the management of Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs) such as pine and resin.

“Most of them feel lucky to be able to visit some places as a success story of agroforestry in Indonesia” he said.

At the end of the meeting, Andre Ekadinata expressed his gratitude to Gunung Walat for the services provided, both in terms of facilities and forest management, especially in the field of agroforestry.

“We are very grateful to the management of Gunung Walat, especially those who have received us and showed us what has been done in Gunung Walat. We hope that the effort that has been hard enough done by Gunung Walat will always be successful” he concluded.
