Gunung Walat, Sukabumi – Comparative Study of Institutional Strengthening of Production Forest Management Units (KPHP) of Jambi Production Forest Utilization Monitoring Center (BPPHP) took place on 12-13 December 2015 at Gunung Walat University Forest, Sukabumi.
BPPHP Area IV had conducted a comparative study attended by representatives of the Production Forest Management Unit (KPHP) in Jambi.
“Our activity here is the comparative study on the management of Gunung Walat University Forest which is an icon of a management model that does prioritize community participation and provide benefits both for the aspect of welfare and social relations between management and communities around the forest” said representative of BPPHP Jambi, Risno Murtichandra, when met at the location of the activity.
According to him, this was in line with the initial purpose of the establishment of KPH in Jambi that prioritized sustainable forest management and supported the community’s prosperity. It was an inspiration for BPPHP Jambi to make forest management remained balanced and empowering the community around the forest.
“GWUF is indeed a very unusual sample. It becomes a challenge for us who manage a large KPH. GWUF is also a management model in with the aspects that can provide benefits to be the focus of its management” concluded Risno Murtichandra.
