Meetings and Training of Character Building for Papua Regional Development Planner

Gunung Walat, Sukabumi – Meetings and Training of Character Building for Papua Regional Development Planner had taken place on 16-20 June 2015 in the Gunung Walat University Forest in Sukabumi.

This activity was funded by the British Government in collaboration with the Indonesian Ministry of Homeland Affairs.

“This is a training activity for planners from the Papua Province BAPPEDA Papua Regional Development Planner. This is a collaborative program on regional planning especially spatial implementation in Papua to develop a new vision and paradigm of development there, especially a sustainable development” said Technical Assistant, Adrian Whales, when met at the location of the activity.

According to Adrian Whales, the reason for Gunung Walat being used as a training place was to introduce participants to various forest functions in terms of the utilization of forest products without damaging the environment, forest protection, and the welfare of forest communities.

“We bring them here as a place that is very inspiring if we want to talk about the environment, development alternatives, and especially personal leadership” he said.

Whales added that while at Gunung Walat, the participants were very impressed with the balance between the flora vegetation in it. Besides, the facilities owned by Gunung Walat were adequate.

“I admire this place very much because it is such a quiet place that is not too far from Jakarta-Bogor with very pleasant facilities. All feel able to feel peace, calm, and inspired in this place. It is simple but very feasible for a training like this” he concluded.
