Gunung Walat, Sukabumi – Industrial Work Practices (Prakerin) of ) SMK Kehutanan Negeri Kadipaten took place on 28 April – 21 May 2016 in Gunung Walat University Forest, Sukabumi.

This prakerin was attended by the 10th-grade students of the 8th batch of ) SMK Kehutanan Negeri Kadipaten.

During their stay at Gunung Walat, students learned about the science of forestry that was directly guided by lecturers and assistant lecturers of Faculty of Forestry, IPB. The study included forest protection, silviculture, silvika, measurement and testing of logs, wood measuring science, measurement and mapping, dendrology, and community forestry.

According to a teacher representative from SMK Kehutanan Negeri Kadipaten, Intakris, M.Pd, this field practice aimed to form students of SMK Kehutanan Negeri Kadipaten in order to have competency in the forestry sector, especially in level 2.

“So students have the certification of skills, knowledge, and attitude in accordance with the demands of the Indonesian National Work Competency Standard (SKKNI)” Intakris explained.

Intakris thanks the management of Gunung Walat who had worked well for the past 4 years in terms of education and field practice.

“So far the results have been very good for the competencies our students in SMK Kehutanan Negeri Kadipaten.” he concluded.
