Gunung Walat, Sukabumi – Fieldtrip Team of Dean and Lecturers of the Faculty of Forestry, Kasetsart University, Thailand was held on December 10-11, 2014 in Gunung Walat University Forest, Sukabumi.

This activity was attended by 6 staff from the Dean and lecturers of the Faculty of Forestry.

According to the Dean of Faculty of Forestry, Kasetsart University of Thailand, Dr. Chongrak Wachinrat, activities at Gunung Walat included a visit to the forest to see tapping of agathis and pine sap, discussions on managing non-timber forest products, and visit agroforestry sites.

“In my opinion, many forest-related activities can generate profits without cutting down trees. It is about how to empower the surrounding community to get results from tapping trees and excellent agroforestry cooperation” he said.

He added that not only giving benefits for the surrounding community, but Gunung Walat University Forest is also considered to be suitable for student’s research with good facilities and service.

“This place is very good for conducting research. But the best part is the delicious meal with wood-based lodging facility. I would like to thank IPB and all the staff here. Hopefully, we can come again to bring my students to study here, thank you” he concluded.
