Fieldtrip on Non-Timber Forest Products by Forest Management (FS) Students of IPB Faculty of Forestry

Gunung Walat, Sukabumi – Fieldtrip on Non-Timber Forest Products by Forest Management (FS) Students of IPB Faculty of Forestry took place on 1-2 June 2012 on GWUF.

This field trip was a non-timber forest product field trip with the theme “bright prospect of Indonesian NTFPs”. The field trip was attended by 10 participants who were FS Faculty of Forestry 2011 batch graduate students. “Field trip purpose is to get knowledge about forest management with sap results,” said Tomi Yuwono as committee chairman.

Activities carried out during field trip included the introduction of sap-producing trees and their harvesting technique, sap handling, sap handling in the warehouse, sales, and social side of the sapper. Field trip community in the Gunung Walat University Forest was supervised by Dr. Gunawan Santosa as a lecturer who taught one of the courses in Forest Management.

In the field trip activities there were also sharing and discussion with GWUF Executive Director, Ir. Budi Prihanto, MS. “Gunung Walat is the only educational forest that can manage the sap and is the pride of the Bogor Agricultural University. Small-scale forests are managed by extraordinary people and can improve the welfare of the surrounding community, beneficial to knowledge and extraordinary, steady impression”, added Tomi Yuwono.
