Gunung Walat, Sukabumi – Fieldtrip of Biology Student of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta took place on November 15-17, 2012 in Gunung Walat University Forest.

This activity in Gunung Walat University Forest (GWUF) was a Terrestrial Ecology Fieldtrip conducted by the Biology Study Program of Syarif Hidayatullah UIN University, Jakarta. This field trip is one of the courses in the 5th semester. This activity is intended to fulfil the practical value of Terrestrial Ecology and to be able to add research experience in the.

The field trip was attended by 56 Biology students, 1 lecturer, and 5 teaching assistants. “Field trip is conducted in GWUF because GWUF fulfils the lecture material that we will learn and the natural environment. Facilities in GWUF are very good for us to conduct activities there” said Fuad Albani as the head of the field trip committee.

The field trip consisted of two observations, those are the measurement of biomass and carbon stocks and secondary succession that occurred in GWUF, in this case, that is caused by fire.

“Impression during the GWUF is that the tour guides in GWUF were very friendly, the service provided was very satisfying, so we felt comfortable and maximal doing observation activities. There is a quite good lodging and the full support of GWUF makes it easier for us to conduct research”, added Fuad Albani
