“It is routinely held at the end of every semester to visit places where is related to DAS management to know the real condition” said Ir Suria Darma Tarigan, M.Sc when interviewed during activities.

According to her, the purpose of this activity was to give education related to forest management, because the forest was an element that preserves river water. From this activity, they can see the quality and height of river water surface level. To support this activity, she used a tool called Hobo Data Logger.

“This tool is to measure the characteristics of the river. In campus, there are four tools and the first time it was used was in 2015. Previously, it was used in Jambi at Batang Hari River in 2015” explained by the lecturer for watershed management courses

A very accurate tool in measuring the quality and height of river water surface was carrying a sophisticated technology using a USB cable to send data to a computer.

“First, insert the device into the stream. There is a tail to bind it. And we can see the result in one or two months to know whether data goes up” she said.

During the Gunung Walat University Forest, in addition to the demonstration of Hobo Data Logger tool, they had visited several educational attractions.

“After seeing agroforestry and karst cave, we see the tapping of pine and the results in the warehouse” she concluded.
