Gunung Walat, Sukabumi – Education and Training for Technical Staff (ganis) in Forestry Planning took place on March 17-22, 2013 in Gunung Walat University Forest.

The training was organized by the Bogor Forestry Education and Training Center in collaboration with the Indonesian Forest Entrepreneurs Association (APHI). The number of participants who participated in this training was 34 people from companies which hold Forest Concession Permit (HPH) for Natural and Industrial Plantation Forests (HTI) from all over Indonesia.

“The purpose of this training is to make HPH’s ganis because it is mandatory for companies”, said Ir. Kadarusman, M.Sc as the mentor from the Bogor Forestry Education and Training Center.

The materials taught in this training included mapping, managing work areas, pre-logging woods inventory (ITSP), and periodic comprehensive forest inventory (IHMB). In this training program, the theoretical strengthening was held priory in the GWUF hall before practised in the forest.

Other counsellors who participated in this training at GWUF were Ani Maryanah, S.Hut (Bogor Forestry Training Center), and Ir. Hadjib, MS (Faculty of Forestry of IPB).

“Education and training at Gunung Walat are for the application of simulated theories and GWUF is sufficiently adequate as a field practice field”, explained Ir. Kadarusman, M.Sc.
