Advanced Forest Management Practices (P2H)

Gunung Walat, Sukabumi – Advanced Forest Management Practices (P2H) took place on 28 August – 2 September 2012 in Gunung Walat University Forest.

The reason why the P2H was continued is that at the time of the first P2H, which took place on 27 June-18 July 2012, there were 12 Faculty of Forestry students which is absent from P2H for 10 days to attend XXV National Student Science Week (Pimnas) at the University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta.

According to the instruction from the Rector of IPB, each faculty has to fully support Pimnas, so that the P2H Faculty of Forestry Committee gives dispensation for students participating in Pimnas for absent from P2H activities to be replaced later.

“Committee of P2H gave a special program to replace the previous P2H and only replaced some of the material left behind during the absence of the previous P2H” said Dr. Gunawan Santosa as Chairman of the P2H Committee.

The P2H activity was accompanied by 2 assistants and 2 lecturers. The 6 days training of P2H can replace the 10 days left because the schedule is compacted and the number of people is small so it is more efficient.

The materials practised include Forest Protection, Conservation of Natural Resources, Non-Timber Forest Product Harvesting, Timber Processing Industry, Forest Development, and Community Forestry.
