Insect Classification Practices of IPB Faculty of Veterinary Postgraduate Student

Gunung Walat, Sukabumi – Biology Course Practices and Insect Classification of Study Program of Parasitology and Health Entomology of Graduate School of Veterinary Medicine of IPB took place on 7-8 October 2011 in Gunung Walat University Forest (GWUF), Sukabumi.

This practice was attended by 6 graduate students and 3 lecturers. Lecturers who accompanied them were Dr. drh. Upik Kesumawa Hadi, MS; Dr. drh. Susi Soviana, MS and Prof. Dr. Singgih H Sigit, M.Sc.

“The aim of this practice is to see and study the insects that are actually in nature such as larvae, pupae, and adults; various orders; and insect groups in here,” said Dr. drh. Upik Kesumawa Hadi, MS.

During the practice, students observe the habitat of insects, collect the insect, and to be identified in campus laboratories.

The insects that have been obtained in this GWUF include various types of ants, butterflies, dragonflies, grasshoppers, insects that live in vegetation rot, etc.
