Gunung Walat Sukabumi – Visit by Jiri Ponert, a botanist from Czech Republic, to Gunung Walat University Forest (GWUF, Sukabumi, Indonesia) on 4 – 5 August 2011.

Jiri Ponert, D.Sc, a botanist from Czech Republic, visited Gunung Walat Educational Forest (Sukabumi, Indonesia) from 4 August through 5 August 2011 to make observation and documentation of some botanical resources at Gunung Walat University Forest (GWUF).

Jiri Ponert, a Czech Republic national, has ever become a visiting professor for botany and related sciences at Isfahan State University (Iran) and Karachi State University (Pakistan). He was also a former officer for the establishment of new botanical gardens in Iran and Georgia (near the Black Sea).

His visit to GWUF (Sukabumi, Indonesia) was conducted within his series of visit to Indonesia which included itineraries to Bali, Java and Sumatra. He was impressed with the great biodiversity of undergrowth vegetation in GWUF and hopes that there will be further collaboration in the future with GWUF for International education and training concerning botany, and related forest resources.
