“Class 12 is prepared to enter university or college life, so the students should undergo everything that they will face in universities, and we want to develop them so they will become good member of scientific community”, says Aang Nasrudin, S.Pd, the chief (principal) of Christian Senior High School Ipeka Tomang who also acts as person in charge of this field trip activity.

Resource persons who also guide the students are among others Dr. Tatang Tiryana, Dr. Gunawan Santosa, and Dr. Cahyo Wibowo who are all Directors of GWUF and teaching staffs of Faculty of Forestry, IPB; and 4 assistants of university teaching staffs.

Aang Nasrudin explains that GWUF was chosen as the field trips site because GWUF is really used for educational program which is supported by competent resource persons and valuable natural resources to be studied by the students.

Field trip activities comprise field observations which are related with theories which the students have ever received at school, such as measurement of river water yield, measurement of water pH, cave observation which is related with geology, and studying the various ecosystems existing in GWUF.

“We want to develop the students, so that in the future, they also understand the economic aspects of the forest, such as from the objects of agroforestry and non timber forest products utilization”, Aang Nasrudin adds.
