Gunung Walat, Sukabumi – Sustainable Forest Management Practices for Students of Forestry Faculty of Lancang Kuning University, Riau had been held from August 24 to September 4 2015 in Gunung Walat University Forest, Sukabumi.

The Lancang Kuning University (UNILAK) Riau had held Sustainable Forest Management Practices (PPHL) along with PTKH UNRI (University of Riau). During the activities at Gunung Walat, the students practised subjects around forestry sciences including Forest Inventory, Forest Development, Forest Conservation, Management of Non-Timber Forest Products, Forest Mapping, and Plantation Management by Perhutani. This practice was guided directly by the IPB Faculty of Forestry lecturers and assistant lecturers.

Obviously, besides practising at Gunung Walat, the students also had the opportunity to practice in Gunung Gede and Pangrango National Parks and Perhutani Public Corporation in Cianjur.

“In GWUF, we earned many benefits that are very useful for our life. The material, lecturers, and assistants are good and everything is available in GWUF. Here we get good knowledge meanwhile where on campus we only get the material. We can practice what we have studied on campus. Here we can earn the knowledge to be a forester” said one representative of UNILAK students when met at the location of the activity.
