Fieldtrip: Future Leader Observation (FLO) of XII Science Class of Christian High School Ipeka Tomang Jakarta

Gunung Walat, Sukabumi – Fieldtrip: Future Leader Observation (FLO) of XII Science Class of Christian High School Ipeka Tomang Jakarta had been held on August 28-30, 2013 in Gunung Walat University Forest, Sukabumi.

While in the Gunung Walat University Forest, students got various learnings both theories and practices about forest management. It was directly supervised by a lecturer at the Faculty of Forestry of IPB and staff of GWUF. The material provided was climate observations on GWUF, NTFP management, carbon uptake, biodiversity, hydrology, and of course the most interesting one is the karst cave.

The field trip theme was “Observing the world for the bright future”  and expected to produce future generations who care about the forest and its value as expected by the teachers who participated in this activity.

“My message is that students have a desire to preserve Indonesia’s natural richness, through the learning in this GWUF” said the Principal, Mr. Aang Nasrudin when met at the location of the activity.

The similar thing was stated by Dr. Tatang Tiryana as the lecturer from the Faculty of Forestry, IPB. According to him, this activity was expected to foster a caring attitude, especially towards the diversity of flora and fauna that exist in Indonesia.

“It is very inspiring for the young generation to love the environment” he added.
