Gunung Walat, Sukabumi – Fieldtrip of Students of SMAN 4 South Tangerang took place on 15 January 2016 in Gunung Walat University Forest, Sukabumi.
This field trip was attended by 71 students. Even though it’s only one day, all students and teachers really maximized their opportunity to observe the entire forest area by looking at agroforestry, the function of forest plants that can be used as medicine, studying Non-timber Forest Products (NTFPs) and studying community forestry.
“There was a lot of knowledge gained by students, such as how to harvest pine, the use of pine resin, and so on that are actually new for the student. So before they are here, they did not know at all about this activity and now they get more knowledge. This can be a kind of inspiration for children” said a representative of teachers of SMAN 4 South Tangerang, Ibni Affan, S.Pd, when met at the location of the activity.
Ibni explained the reason for taking his students to the forest was to introduce the young generation to nature. So that the effects given can foster their concern for the environment.
“With the love for nature they can be more integrated with nature so that future understanding of forest conservation will be understood by students” explained Ibni Affan.
