Development of knowledge and insight of employees of Indonesian Grand Forest Park

Gunung Walat, Sukabumi – Development of knowledge and insight of employees of Indonesian Grand Forest Park Sultan Adam in Gunung Walat University Forest (1-2 December 2010).

This activity was conducted to increase knowledge on sustainable forest management for the employee of Indonesian Grand Forest Park (Tahura) Sultan Adam, because the GWUF constitutes a model for successful forest management.

Indonesian Grand Forest Park (Tahura) possesses forest area size of 112 000 Ha, inside of which, there is 2000 Ha of education forest managed by University of Lambung Mangkurat, South Kalimantan.

“We want to create education forest which exists within our Grand Forest Park as an appropriate medium for students who want to learn forestry. Therefore, there are many things that we will develop and learn after we return from this Gunung Walat University Forest. We will try to realize the things we learn here, in our own place”, said Mr Andi who was a Secretary of Service Agency of South Kalimantan Province. He added: “We thanks Mr. Budi Prihanto, the Director of Gunung Walat University Forest, who had given us some sciences and knowledges concerning the aspects of fund raising for this University Forest, such as from CSR program of various companies”.

“We observe good creativity and improvisation in the management of education forest, such as that which occurs in this GWUF “, said Mr. Firman Trinandha, Chief of Utilization Section of the Indonesian Grand Forest Park (Tahura).

Similar thought was also expressed by Chief of Grand Forest Park (Tahura), Mr. H. Ahmad Ridhani, and one of the staff, Mr. Iriyanto, who want to seek knowledge and sciences from GWUF to be applied in the Grand Forest Park. And for further program, it is hoped that there would be cooperation between GWUF and the Grand Forest Park in terms of information and other things.
