Training on Entrepreneurship Development for chairmen of Forest Management Unit (KKPH) by Human Resources Education and Training Center of Ministry of Environment and Forestry

Gunung Walat, Sukabumi – Training on Entrepreneurship Development for chairmen of Forest Management Unit (KKPH) by Human Resources Education and Training Center of Ministry of Environment and Forestry was held on 10-12 August 2016 in Gunung Walat University Forest, Sukabumi.

The training was attended by 30 chairmen of Forest Management Units (KKPH) throughout Indonesia.

According to the Head of Sub Directorate of Institutional Development of Directorate of Production Forest Management Unit, Basar Manulang, the purpose of the implementation of this training was to increase the capacity or insight of a Production Forest Management Unit (KKPHP) Head, to build or change the mindset of a bureaucrat, and to become an entrepreneur in order to manage resources.

“At least, this training program has laid the foundations of how to manage the forest in the future, not only complaining of budget constraints but also managing limited human resources in each KPH area” said Basar Manulang.

Basar Manulang said that GWUF was a successful example on how to manage forests without the assistance of the national budget from the government this was should not be a problem, but a challenge and an opportunity.

“That is what we see in this forest. A business process has done by GWUF involving the surrounding community. And it inspires the participants of the training in how they will communicate and invites the community to continue to participate in the context of forest development” he explained.

Basar Manulang hopes for good cooperations, especially from Directorate of KPHP, Director General of PHPL, KLHK Human Resource Training Center with GWUF to continue to synergize with each other in terms of building human resource capacity.

“Hopefully, GWUF can provide innovative ideas and new inspiration in sustainable forest management” Basar Manulang concluded.
