Gunung Walat, Sukabumi – Leadership training for Korean students by Korean Green Promotion Agency, at Gunung Walat Education Forest (GWEF). (5-6 July 2011).
This training was under the auspices of Global Green Leader program which has the objective of preparing young leaders to have good environmental perspective.
The participants, numbered to 18 persons, constituted the representative of students from all universities in South Korea, under the guidance from University Teaching Staffs from Chonnam University, namely Lee Kye-Han,Ph.D
Training was conducted in GWEF for also observing and learning the management of University Forest. GWEF is interesting, because this dense and intact forest, was in the past only in the form of barren land. The conversion of this barren land into dense and intact forest, as can be seen at the present time, constitutes an impressive success story.
During this training, the Korean students conducted group presentation which comprised 3 topics, namely: 1. Description of Korean forests 2. Description of large scale plantation and forestry in Korea 3. Cooperation between Korea and other countries in forestry sector.
Activities being conducted were among other things eco-edutourism and sharing of information and experiences between Korean students and Indonesian students (students of Faculty of Forestry, IPB).
