Fieldtrip of The 4th Asia-Pacific Regional Meeting (APRM) of IFSA (International Forestry Students' Association)

Gunung Walat, Sukabumi – Fieldtrip of The 4th Asia-Pacific Regional Meeting (APRM) of IFSA (International Forestry Students’ Association) had been held on May 16-17, 2017 in Gunung Walat University Forest, Sukabumi with the theme: “Forest Value towards Sustainable Development Goals”.

Representatives of the Asia Pacific IFSA (International Forestry Students Association) who were members of the Asia Pacific Regional Meeting (APRM) had held a field trip which was participated by six representatives of Asia Pacific countries, they are Indonesia, Taiwan, the Philippines, South Korea, Japan, and Iran.

According to the APRM committee, Angga Pratama Putra, the activities that were sharing knowledge about forestry science had been held for the fourth time and this year Indonesia was given the opportunity to host choose Gunung Walat as one of the venues.

“So GWUF as we all know is an educational forest managed by the Faculty of Forestry of IPB, so our goal here is to introduce tropical forest ecosystems in Indonesia to them. So they can add knowledge and experience from field lectures here” he explained.

Angga Pratama Putra added that all APRM participants who were from abroad were very impressed with the beauty of Gunung Walat University Forest. The tight woods and the presence of several types of wildlife such as long-tailed monkeys were always seen inhabiting several locations on Mount Walat.

“I think they really enjoy the area here especially the environment because they are forestry students from the Asia Pacific countries” he concluded.
