Gunung Walat, Sukabumi – Field Practices Students of the Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta was held in Gunung Walat University Forest (GWUF) on Thursday, November 25, 2010.

Field practice participants were 43 students of the Agribusiness Department, Faculty of Science and Technology, Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta. They were also accompanied by lecturers, Iwan Aminuddin, M.Si and Iping Ruspendi, SP.

This field practice was a practicum of Introduction to Soil Science Course that visits the GWUF every year and this time was the fifth visit.

“In the soil practicum, the relatively undisturbed and zero processing land conditions are needed. In Gunung Walat, we have those criteria that we need for this practicum, that’s why we come here every year,” said Iwan Aminuddin.

This practicum activity includes direct observation in the forest, obtaining soil data, determining the types of plants that are suitable for development in GWUF, and so on.

“This activity also aims to make students become more open-minded about agriculture, not seeing agriculture as a food crop only, but also forestry commodities in it” he added.
