Education and training on Sustainable Production Forest Management (PHPL) for the technical worker (ganis) of PHPL Timber Cruising

Gunung Walat, Sukabumi – Education and training on Sustainable Production Forest Management (PHPL) for the technical worker (ganis) of PHPL Timber Cruising took place on 26-30 May 2013 in Gunung Walat University Forest.

PHPL education and training for ganis was organized by the Bogor Forestry Education and Training Center in collaboration with APHI (Indonesian Forest Employers Association). The participants amounted to 36 people from HPH (Forest Concession Permit) and HTI (Industrial Forest) companies throughout Indonesia.

This training aimed to debrief participants about forest inventory.

The mentors in education and training in Gunung Walat University Forest (GWUF) were Dr. Badarsyah, Ir. Priyambudi, M.Sc, Ir. Kadarusman, M.Sc, and Ani Maryanah, S.Hut.

“Before becoming a certified worker in terms of forest inventory, this learning process must be passed in how they make blocking for logging activities and tree counting. And also, as a professional technical person, they must be able to make good reports” said Dr. Badarsyah, one of the mentors from Bogor Forestry Education and Training Center.

“GWUF has an environment that looks like a natural forest to allow us conducting a training for the participants. The forest conditions here are still quite representative which describes forests that are still good even though the vegetation conditions are still less compared to outside of Java. However, the very adequate facilities support conducive learning”, added Dr. Badarsyah.
